D-Guard Bowie - Master Series Fixed Blade Knife Kit (Designed by Harvey Dean) The D-Guard Bowie has an overall length of 16.40 inches. The blade length measures 11.00 inches, has a cutting edge of 10.00 inches, and is 1.80 inches at the widest point. The blade is made from precision 9Cr13CoMoV stainless steel (Equivalent SUS440C)(HRC 58-60), is flat-ground, heat-treated, satin finished, features a tapered-tang, and has a beveled top edge. The blade thickness is .250 inches at the midline, and is beveled to a fine point at the tip. The handle tang is tapered and allows the D-Guard component handle parts to slipover to a flush, secured abutment with the blade when constructed and tightened. The tapered tang features a 1/4-24 threaded end piece to accept the radiused pommel and precision tang nut fastener. The D-Guard has an assembled clearance of 4.75 inches length, with a finger clearance depth of 2.00 inches from the naked tang. The D-Guard handle assembly features a specially designed spacer with alignment pins for slipover handle construction. The metal parts of the handle assembly are constructed with engravable 420SS and can be modified with file-working, etching, and even mirror polishing.
