The tunnels were a crucial part of the communist forces’ guerrilla warfare strategy, providing hidden routes for movement, storage, and living quarters.The Tunnel Rats were often volunteers, and their task was extremely dangerous due to the cramped and dark conditions within the tunnels, as well as the threat of booby traps and enemy ambushes.
