This is an elegant antique Minton “Japonica” dinner plate, featuring handpainted birds and florals. 10 3/8″ in diameter. Hand painted. The mark is from 1915 – 1950, but I’m certain this one is from 1915, because of the additional T. M. James mark on the back. (see notes below) The number is “RdNo 62111” There is also a hand painted number, which I think is “909.” Marked: Minton Est 1793 England T. M. James and Sons Kansas City In mint condition. From a smoke-free home. T.M. James and Sons was a K.C. company founded by Thomas Martin James, which operated a china and art objects warehouse and retail store. They sold fine china like Wedgwood and Spode. After James’s death, his sons ran the business until it was sold to Joyce Hall in about 1915. Hall later founded Hallmark Cards.
