This is a Neoclassical-style-bas-relief wall plaque featuring cherubs(also known as putti). Based on similar antique and vintage pieces, it likely dates from the late 19th to the early 20th century. Made of bronze with a beautiful patina. The subject is an allegorical scene, often referred to as an “Allegory of Music” when cherubs are shown with instruments, or a general “Cupid and Cherubs” scene. Also features a lions head and frame detail with a stippled background. This was part of my late mother’s estate and I remember her acquiring it in the 1970’s along with her many antiques. Approx. 10″ x 7″.
