Jugendstil, (meaning “Youth Style”) is the German and Austrian manifestation of the international Art Nouveau movement, flourishing from about 1895 to 1910. It was a deliberate break from historic and classical academic art, characterized by organic forms, sinuous “whiplash” lines, and nature-inspired motifs across fine and decorative arts.
