Antique Large Silverplate Ladle – AW Barlow/Toledo – Farren/Mason Michigan -EXC! Click images to enlarge Description For auction is a very nice old antique or very vintage large silver plated ladle – big enough for a punch bowl or large tureen. It measures just over 11″ tall, and the bowl is about 3-5/8″ wide. The face of the handle is engraved “Lake Breeze(s),” and the backside is engraved “Edward L Burton.” On the underside, where a hallmark would normally be found, is what I make out to be “A.W. Barlow” (to the best of my ability). Barlow was an importer/dealer based in Toledo, Ohio from the late 1800’s to very early 1900’s. No other hallmarks. Now, the name engraved on the outside of bowl is “Rosa Virginia Farren” (d1938), who along with her husband, Andrew J. Farren (d1912), are buried in Mason, Michigan. So, anyways, I can get a bit of a date range on the item, but not much else. Very nice and big serving item. Excellent condition, a light touch of wear to plating where the bowl rests on its backside, have left it as found and buyer can decide if it needs a polishing. See pics for details.
