Superb, antique, Victorian era wide, accordion pleated Valenciennes lace flounce in a rich, warm, sandy ecru, similar to a cafe-au-lait color… Rich in texture and appearance, this lace is useful for doll costuming, embellishing pillows, and applications requiring minimal manipulation due to occasional small breaks/splits and small repairs… It features an ornate, repetitive, floral motif with vines and greenery along sheer net ground, and is finished off with narrow accordion pleats and a gently scalloped bottom edge with picots. Randomly removed from a long length, each quantity, fully extended, measures overall ~2&3/4 inches wide, ~60 inches long and is finished along 2 sides. In overall good condition considering age with some storage wrinkles, mild soilage with age yellowing which should lift with repeated soaks, mild fraying along the unfinished edges, occasional small/tiny spots, occasional small/tiny breaks/splits, and occasional repairs/manufactural joints which are not readily apparent due to the pleats. The pleats have lost oomph (some areas more so than others), and can be revitalized. Though imperfect, this lace is rich in texture and appearance and drapes beautifully.
