Vintage Green Carnival Glass Shoe / Slipper By Summit Art Glass

This piece has been identified as Westmoreland by some because of the makers mark on the bottom. In Lorraine Kovar’s book, “The Westmoreland Story”, the intertwined “W” and ‘G’ mark was used after the 1940’s. The problem is, having the mark doesn’t mean it’s from that period or that is even Westmoreland. Westmoreland molds were acquired by other glass makers, some of whom did not do a good job of removing the mark. I have not found any evidence that Westmoreland ever made this pattern. They did make a smooth version of this shoe. With that said, I did find this pattern in a Summit Art Glass catalog from the early 1990’s. Catalog number 1900 Rose Lace Slipper 4 1/2 inches long.
