Back in stock! Price increase of 10% on wholesale cost due to tariffs on Chinese imports, sorry 🙁 At some point these had to be passed on to the US. distributor CAS Iberia, then Sellers, finally to you the Buyers, but we’ve all tried to phase them in over time. The good news is that this blade will probably last a lifetime! From Hanwei Forge, approved for sparring and HEMA competition. The high-carbon flex-tempered steel blades closely follow the proportions of the period and are button tipped for safety. These tapered blades provide a superior balance compared to the traditional parallel-sided schlagers, making for a lighter, faster sword. SpecificationsTotal Length: 42″Blade Length: 37″Tang Length: 5″ Threaded Weight: 10 oz Blade Steel: 1566 * See last photos. In response to Buyer’s question, tang is approximately 4-7/8″ long with a 1-1/2″ long threaded end, threads are metric 6-1.00, ricasso is approximately 1″ wide and 3/16″ thick. An outstanding blade, available in both 37″ and 43″ lengths (42″ and 48″ overall) We have a dozen of them in use in my Adria group, and never had one broken or even bent. You can pay twice as much and not get a higher quality blade IMHO. I have one from a custom forge that I paid a fortune for and it often gets a bend in the end that I have to straighten out, I know that’s where it will break one day. I sell what I own and recommend. I’m a collector and a weekend warrior. See my seller ratings and buy with confidence. Plus I ship fast 🙂 Any questions just ask. This is also a replacement blade for Paul Chen | Hanwei Practical Rapier SH1098, perfect for HEMA sparring or stage combat. Top quality. Highly recommended. See close-up photos to get an idea of the solid construction with thick Ricasso and tang, no welds. See sparring photo of 43″ version in action, this blade has superb strength and flexibility. MSRP: $80.00… you save 10% * 1566 is a high-carbon and manganese spring steel used by Hanwei in many of their differentially hardened Japanese swords and through-hardened medieval swords. This deep hardening steel provides a consistent microstructure ensuring a long life and excellent edge holding in demanding applications. 0.6-0.7C, 0.85-1.15Mn This listing is for OH1061 – 37″ Schlager-style blade (replacement for the SH1098 Practical Rapier) and I have a separate listing for OH1060 the 43” version. Many re-enactors and hobbyists craft their own guard and hilt. In 2nd photo you can see how flexible the blade is, though that one is the longer 43″ version. Kingston Arms Viking Sword & ScabbardGodfred Single-Hand, Blunt Sparring & Steel FightingHigh Carbon Forged Spring Steel BladeRe-enactment, Live Combat & Stage Combat * SM36020 ••• 8/10/23 back in stock, limited quantity ⚔️ From CAS Iberia The Tourney Series Medieval Sparring Swords from Kingston Arms will set a new standard in this price point of re-enactment weaponry. Features like thru-tang handle construction, peened thru-tang stainless steel pommel and guard, 2mm rounded edge thickness make these two brutal weapons on the battle field. The cord wrapped leather grip feels exceptional in the hand with an oval cross section and slight barrel shape to keep fatigue at bay. The grip is large enough to accomodate armoured hands. A respectable fuller runs the length of both pieces to lighten and counter balance the swords overall. A wood core and leather wrapped scabbard tipped with a stainless chape comes with each sword. The blade is forged from 9260 high carbon spring steel and is tempered to about 50 HRC, providing a long lasting sword that will take a lot of punishment. The guard needs special mention, featuring the King-Peen system. King-Peen is essentially a steel tab on the guard under the grip that is pinned through the tang of the sword. This process keeps the guard from going loose after a lengthy campaign without compromising the strength of the hilt. The pommel is pressed into place and hot peened. Combine these two processes and you get a sword that rings like a bell when struck. Made by Kinston Arms 2mm edge thickness 9260 Spring Steel blade Traditional thru-tang handle and peened pommelMSRP: $249.00, you save 20% Specifications: Overall: 36 1/2″ Blade Length: 30″ Handle Length: 4 3/8″ Weight: 3lb 2oz Blade Steel: 9260Handle Material: Wood/Leather Comments: The first Tourney Series models are the Viking Sword and Medieval Single-hand Swords, and just released is the Hand-and-a-Half Knightly sword. Others coming soon. These were commissioned by CAS Iberia as an alternative to the Paul Chen Hanwei practical swords, and initial impression of experienced steel fighters in my group is GOOD! The 9260 spring steel should prove to be more resilient and you’ll see in video reviews the blades even have a slight flex to them. The larger grips are especially nice for gauntleted hands. The wider edges (2mm vs Hanwei 1.56 mm and slightly wider, more rounded tip are nice refinements as well that make these safer for sparring. Based on length, shape and fullered blade I’d classify this as an Oakshott Type X but with Godfred triple lobed pommel and forward curved cross guard; common in the late Viking age, remaining in use up to the 13th century. It features a broad and flat blade with an average length of 80 centimeters (2.6 ft) with a very wide and shallow fuller running almost the entire length of the blade but fading out just before the point, which is typically rounded. The grip has the same average length as earlier Viking swords of about 9 centimetres (3.5 in). The tang is usually very flat and broad, and tapers sharply towards the pommel. The cross or cross-guard is of square section, about 18–20 centimeters (7.1–7.9 in), tapering towards the tips. The type X is narrower and longer than the typical Viking sword, representing a transitional type to the knightly sword of the Middle Ages. •••••1050 vs 9260 Spring Steel Sword Buyers Guide: 9260 Spring Steel is a lot more resilient and tougher than Cold Steel’s 1050. On the whole, most Cold Steel swords are tempered very well, but tend to be a bit thick. The 9260 gets the same and a better toughness without needing such a beefy blade, so the end result is – 9260 is the best in terms of durability. I really haven’t seen anything else out there in this price range that comes close. I’m a collector and a weekend warrior, active in my local HEMA group. I only list what I own and can personally recommend. Item guaranteed authentic, new in box and direct from manufacturer. See my seller ratings and buy with confidence, plus super fast shipping. Any questions please ask, I’m happy to help. Imported by CAS Iberia * CAS Iberia (importer for Hanwei, Paul Chen & Tinker Pearce designs, as well as Kingston Arms Tourney series) practical swords are all based on authentically styled swords but tailored to meet the needs of re-enactment and stage combat. These very popular and affordable weapons feature authentic hilt styling, with fully tempered un-edged and un-pointed blades. They are designed to withstand rugged use while providing the level of safety required by many of today’s re-enactment societies. The blades are crafted from high-carbon steel, hardened to mid 50s HRC, which restricts edge-notching to acceptable levels while providing resilience and protection against brittleness. While the blades are substantial, just like the originals they are fullered to provide balance and good handling characteristics. They feature 1/16” wide edges and rounded tips for safety. The tangs are also substantial, with radiused corners at the blade shoulders and no welds. The end of the tang is riveted over the pommel, which both eliminates any possibility of inadvertent disassembly. The hardwood grips are leather-covered
