This pair of graceful, leaping deer was a wedding present to my parents who married in 1945. As long as I can remember, they sat on the top of the mantle in our living room. There is some writing imprinted and glazed over on the bottom of each. I think the bottom, under the hole, says “California 704.” I can’t, however, make out the two words on the top. In researching a bit, I’ve seen others that have a black stamp on the bottom that says the artist was Stewart McCulloch. These two “mystery words” do not appear to say that. Also, others I’ve seen are a bit taller or shorter. These measure 10″ and 10.25″ tall and 7″ wide. Please see the photos, and if you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
