The original patches created for the battalion were embroidered on twill fabric with a cut edge border. Was it a prototype?. I cannot honestly say. It has a plastic backing, and may have been an interim or test sample before both of the battalions went to the consolidated design that would be worn throughout the 1990s and later, until the adoption of the Army Service Uniform.

Skeletor is the F Master of the Universe 2×3 inch Morale Patch. (2 inches by 3 inches). Hook and loop (VeIcr0). High resolution photographic quality patch that is printed, not embroidered. This means you can wash it without the image ever fading because the image is permanently fused into the patch. It will never crack, peel, or wash away. This patch is high quality and very colorful.
