Its polished surface and balanced weight make it ideal for carrying in a pocket, purse, travel bag, or placing on a bedside table or prayer altar.
Antique Islamic bronze kohl bottle known as a Surmadani used for storing eye makeup. These were made from the 11th – 12th century up to the early 20th century usually from the regions of Persia, Afghanistan or India. The bottle is 9.5 cm tall and 5 cm between the feet. One foot is approximately 2 mm shorter than the other three so if it is set on a flat table, it does wobble a bit (or you could slip a small bit of clay underneath it). Otherwise it seems in good condition for its age.
