I don’t anything about this covered brass rice bowl except that it has been engraved with the following information ‘Presented By No 25 C.F.D.B. Sgt’s Mess Korea 1952-1953’. Since the Korean War ended in July 1953, I assume this was a parting gift for someone special to be men who worked in the Sergeant’s Mess at the end of the conflict. The bowl measures 3.5 inches tall by 4.25 inches wide and is in good vintage condition (see photos). Be sure to view my other listings which feature many unique and hard to find items – Crystal and Glassware, Fine Artwork, Art Glass, Asian Rarities, Celebrity Autographs, Fine Porcelain, Quality Jewelry, Hollywood Memorabilia and many more rare items.

This field cap is a very small size, and though I can’t say with 100% certainty, I believe it may have been worn by child helpers in the People’s Liberation Army. Child helpers had been used extensively by the Chinese in both WW2 and the Chinese Civil War, and smaller-than-usual uniforms were often provided to them, as can be seen in original photos of the era.
