Compact yet technologically robust, it was capable of sending wireless voice and code transmissions as well as receiving them. The transceiver was typically bolted to the side of a WWI fighter plane’s cockpit.
The loop is in excellent condition throughout and retains its original wire and its original base. The sheathing is intact, and the wire tests good for continuity. Finish on the arms is original, and it’s in excellent condition.
The wire is 20 AWG (19/32) served with polyester yarn to closely approximate the original. The served wire has an OD of1/16″ or, 0.060″ or, 1.5mm. The DeForest loop takes similar length. To our knowledge, no loop was manufactured with Litz wire.
Here’s an early Navy Type loose coupler manufactured by Adams Morgan in Upper Montclair, New Jersey. Condition is excellent. Very clean, with tightly wrapped coils and a secondary that slides easily along the rails.
