World War I Airplane radio telegraph transmitting set SCR73 was designed for fire control on airplanes. It was a damped wave transmitter supplied with power from a self excited alternator oscillation transformer by a constant speed fan in the airstream of the aircraft. The GN4 alternator, rotary gap, potential transformer, the condenser and oscillation transformer are contained in the streamline casing which is mounted on the underside of the aircraft. Pictured is the Example at the Smithsonian. The one I am selling is without the cover and prop but has threespark gap wheels to vary the tone of the trandmission. Speed of the alternator was 4500 rpm. Also included is the key and antenna reel as well as an original manual less rear cover..Shipping by UPS Ground $75.00.
