Handmade Mata Ortiz (Casas Grandes) blackware pottery signed by Octavio Andrade, a noted artisan from the village of Mata Ortiz, Chihuahua, Mexico. Measures 4” diameter. Burnished black clay with intricate sgraffito (etched) geometric designs in the Paquimé tradition, with multicolor carved accents in red, blue, gold, and white throughout. Features a stylized bird figure on one side. Low seed pot / olla form. Condition: Small chip to the rim — please see photos. Otherwise displays beautifully. A collectible piece of authentic Mexican folk art. Ships carefully wrapped and packed.
