Sheath is waxed so it is semi-waterproof and for longevity, inside is lightly waxed inside (knife fits nice and tight). I hand stitch these with two needles using a saddle stitch and it is very strong, both ending and starting with a doublestitch + triple stitch on the edges of the sheath.
